Rice Kitty - Play With Your Food

The latest impossibly cute trend in the world of omurice, rice pan-fried with ketchup and chicken, wrapped in an omelet (previously featured here), are shivering rice kittens waiting on plates for their people to tuck them in under cozy omelet blankets. It all began with a Japanese commercial for a local brand of eggs called Kiyora:
Now lots of people are creating their own sleepy omurice cats and sharing photos on Japanese twitter.

Here’s how to make one yourself:
“To welcome your own chilly cat to the dining table, simply wrap individual rice portions in plastic wrap or cling film and then mould them into rounded shapes before assembling them in a cat-shape on your plate. Add some cheese or sausage pieces for the face and ears and then finish with some cut nori seaweed pieces for the eyes and whiskers. All that’s left to do is cover your creation with an omelette and you’ve got the cutest weeknight dinner to surprise family and friends.”
Head over to RocketNews24 for even more photos of sleepy, cozy rice kitties.

How to Turn Videos into Podcasts

How to Turn Videos into Podcasts

This step is so simple that it’s a shame to ignore it.
All you do is go to http://ListenToYouTube.com, enter your video URL, and press Go.
This free service will quickly strip your video voice-over and turn it into an MP3 ready to be distributed to various podcast sites.
Marketing Takeaway:
Video sites provide quality SEO backlinks. Plus, it’s not too difficult to get a high search engine ranking for videos – thus creating a whole new venue for your site to be ranked.
My strong suggestion is to make it a habit of turning your blog posts and articles into videos the day they are published.

Why Smart Authors Are Paying $500 For A Book Cover

Why Smart Authors Are Paying $500 For A Book Cover

Get The Exact Same Results For 5 Bucks

  • Yes, We Really Do Judge Books by Their Covers!

  • Professionally designed covers are no longer merely optional; they are considered necessary to compete in the world of book sales.

  • An amateurish cover causes them to expect a poorly written book. If this is the expectation that your cover generates, who on earth will buy such a book?

That’s why people who make serious, day-job-slaying income by selling books online regularly cut them a check for $500.00 with a smile on their faces… And why are they smiling?

Because they know that is an investment that will make them tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars in short order.

Here are some facts that my own research and experience confirmed:

  • People DO judge books by the cover. In a field as competitive and as saturated as Kindle, Amazon, or Nook, people decide to learn more about a book entirely on what the cover looks like. If your cover isn’t grabbing people from the start, it’s never going to sell.

  • People buy because they feel it. And images immediately translate to feelings. The factors that arouse the “I want to buy this” feeling are little known and ignored by 98% of sellers on online. So if you know the secrets, you will outsell 98% of others, easily.

  • People know if they are going to buy within 8 seconds. That’s it. That’s all the time you have. If you’re starting to think that it really does take an expert to know how to get someone to buy your book within 8 seconds, then you’re on the right track

  • Your cover is your brand. Why would you ever want to put your name on a cheap, poor-performing, or ugly book cover? Doing so will only hurt you massively.

An Old Dog, A Monkey And a Leopard

The Old Dog & The Leopard

Fable of the dog and leopard

A wealthy Old Gentleman decides to go on a hunting safari in Africa, taking his faithful, elderly dog named Killer, along for the company.

One day the old dog starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.

The old dog thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep trouble now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the old dog exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder, if there are any more around here?"

Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew!", says the leopard, "That was close! That old dog nearly had me!"

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes, but the old dog sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up.

The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard.

The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what' s going to happen to that conniving canine! "

Now, the old dog sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old dog says...

"Where's that crazy monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!"

Moral of this story...Don't mess with the old dogs....age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery!

School Lunches Around The World

Did you know that on a typical day, 32 million children in the U.S. eat cafeteria food? Or that most of these students consume over half of their daily calories at school?

Recently there has been discussion about what constitutes a quality lunch, so we took a look at some typical school meals around the world, and how our own country stacks up.

I have been in many lunchrooms, setting up for school shows, and not only are many of the meals skimpy, but even then much of it ends up in trash barrels because it is unappetizing.
